ADEN presents Mary E. Morgan

“Abstractions From Motherhood”

Mary Estep Morgan has an MA in painting with a minor in art history and is the current chair of the art department at Prestonwood Academy in Texas. She has taught art on every level from elementary school to university. Morgan has visited Istanbul several times and has developed a love for the city. This summer she brings a collection of 18 abstract pieces of her personal work display at Aden. Beginning July 9 at 19:00 “Abstractions from Motherhood”, a collection of Morgan’s works, will be on public display at Aden. The exhibition will last until July 13.

Although “Abstractions from Motherhood” is Mrs. Morgan’s first international exhibition, it is not her first solo exhibition. Her works have also been shown at several different locations in the US. Most recently her artwork could be seen at “The Plaza Art Center”, a gallery in Carrolton, TX. For “Abstractions from Motherhood”, Morgan has used watercolor and oils to bare her soul. “The subject matter represents the enmeshment of my inner and outer world experiences during the time my boys (sons) were in Colorado. This work represents my spiritual journey as I struggled through many difficult days.” She explained, “As I painted, the moments of frustration, anger, pain, excitement, and joy poured from my brush and palette knife onto the canvas. Even though my palette of colors involved a conscious effort, often the juxtaposition of color, and shapes were of an unconscious nature. The paintings became studies in movement, color and shape evolving from these life experiences.” She now offers to share these experiences, and with them a bit of herself, to all who come to view the exhibition.

Opening Reception - Saturday, July 9, 2004, 19:00 to 22:00
